Resilience is basically defined as bouncing back from every fall.

One manifestation of being resilient is prevention and preparedness. As the saying goes “prevention is better than cure”. Being prepared is being ready to respond to whenever disaster strikes, natural or human-induced.

On the occasion of the 69th Araw ng Compostela and 11th Buganihan Festival, simultaneously celebrated with the culmination of the National Disaster Resilience Month, the Bureau of fire Protection-Compostela Fire Station hosted the Fire Olympics.

Participated by different first responders from the barangays and private entities, the participants showed skills and capabilities to competitively show eagerness and desire to be on top of the competition.

However, it is not about the contest and its corresponding prizes and awards. The real intents of the event is to showcase the true test of preparedness whenever disaster strikes at the most unexpected time at most unexpected places in the most unexpected circumstances.

To be resilient is to be prepared to demonstrate to the world --- “Composela Love Ko… Padayon sa Paglambo”.
